Sales Director of WorkPal, Ian Megahey, was highly commended in the Belfast based, AIB Business Eye awards, on Thursday 11th November after going up against some tough competition.
Northern Ireland saw the return of awards dinners after lockdown restrictions were lifted late last month. Attending the AIB Business Eye awards were a collection of Belfast based businesses, all shortlisted for the prestigious awards which have been running for 15 consecutive years. It was one of the first events to hold circa 600 people since the restrictions were lifted.
Up for Young Business Personality of the Year was WorkPal’s Ian Megahey, who has helped navigate the WorkPal team to great success in the last year. Ian was up against some of NI’s most successful young businesspeople including Bonny Armstrong, Doctor and Owner of B Aesthetics, John Bailie from Salt Communications and Laura Smyth from Whitenoise. The award recognises senior managers and leaders in businesses and organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and achievement.
Throughout the pandemic, WorkPal has helped many field service businesses operate without disruption as new restrictions meant changes to the way people interacted. Remote working set-ups, health and safety procedures and contactless data collection were some of the ways WorkPal allowed essential businesses to continue to operate. With many of WorkPal’s client’s considered front-line, the software was paramount in sending live data to and from field operatives, the office and clients. By removing paperwork aspects of the job, businesses could ensure minimal contact was made between employees and clients.
A key driving force for Ian is seeing how WorkPal has helped so many businesses to not only survive throughout the pandemic but thrive. “We saw a significant uptake in the system at the beginning of COVID as many businesses knew they needed a way to not only communicate remotely but collect all that information in one place to ensure nothing was lost. Since then, we have worked to develop WorkPal for our customers, incorporating COVID-19 health checks for engineers prior to starting a shift and a contactless signature feature to collect important information from clients, safely.”
“I am delighted to have been highly commended at this year’s AIB Business Eye Awards for Young Business Personality. The competition was tough and all those shortlisted were very deserving. I would like to congratulate Roger McCraken, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Foods Connected on winning the award. Roger is a fantastic member of the business community in Northern Ireland and has worked extremely hard to grow and develop his business.”
